Trip Report

Our Yachats group of 5 first met up in Florence Friday morning to browse some galleries. We then proceeded to Muriel Ponsler Wayside for a picnic lunch at the beach. We drove to Devils Churn for a quick explore; then we started a shuttle hike from the top of Cape Perpetua with stunning views to Devils Churn below and the coastline to the south. We hiked down through the forest past the Amanda statue to the bottom where the trail exits the wooded hillside.
After getting settled in at the beach house we put together a fabulous pot-luck dinner. Saturday morning 4 of us took the bus up to Waldport and walked back to Yachats on a minus-tide beach with the ocean sparkling to our right. We discovered the opportunity for an afternoon concert and later returned for a dinner both part of the Pride weekend festivities in Yachats. Walking back and forth between the house and the Yachats village was convenient and pleasant, and access to the coast trail from the house was free for random wanderings.
The weekend weather proved to be ideal, sunny but not hot and somewhat breezy. Some clouds moved in Sunday morning before our departure, we enjoyed a great breakfast at the house while taking in the view of the breakers and the sea. Very enjoyable weekend!
