SUMMARY:Steens Mountain
DESCRIPTION:The gate on south loop road will be open to the camp ground.  The road to the top of the Steens will not be open.  From the camp ground we will have access to Big Indian and Blitzen Canyons as will as Riddle Ranch.  With the exception of Riddle Ranch we can hike from the camp ground.  We should also be able to view wild horses that the BLM keeps along the this road.  There will be a pre trip meeting.  I will call with date\,time and place. There are a total of 4 creek crossings\, 1 across Blitzen Creek and 3 across Big Indian Creek.  I am just over 5 ft and the water has come up to my knees.

DESCRIPTION:The Trail is closed from 7:00am -4:00 pm.   Hopefully we will be able to start our hike to the summit and not disrupt the construction crew as they move equipment back to the staging area.\nIt will be interesting to see the preliminary work and how many logs (at least 40) they have moved up to the Tie Trail.
