SUMMARY:Steens Mountain
DESCRIPTION:The gate on south loop road will be open to the camp ground.  The road to the top of the Steens will not be open.  From the camp ground we will have access to Big Indian and Blitzen Canyons as will as Riddle Ranch.  With the exception of Riddle Ranch we can hike from the camp ground.  We should also be able to view wild horses that the BLM keeps along the this road.  There will be a pre trip meeting.  I will call with date\,time and place. There are a total of 4 creek crossings\, 1 across Blitzen Creek and 3 across Big Indian Creek.  I am just over 5 ft and the water has come up to my knees.

SUMMARY:Eugene Book Loop Walk
DESCRIPTION:Visit 3 of Eugene’s locally-owned book stores on this 5-mile loop walk. At each bookstore\, we will browse for about half an hour. Restroom stops will be included. Bring your sun hat\, water\, and a small daypack to carry any water/books that you buy. Please allow for flexibility in the schedule. We will start at 1 pm\, the plan is to be finished by 4:30 pm\, no later than 5 pm. Browsing times are being kept to 30 minutes to observe Covid rules at various stores. Note: we will not be visiting Black Sun on this trip as they are closed to in-person visits due to Covid \nTimes are approximate. \n1:00 – Depart Amazon Community Center parking lot\, walk 2 miles on the walking path to Pearl St.\n1:45 – Arrive J.Michael Books (160 E Broadway)\n2:15 – Depart J. Michaels\, walk .5 miles to Smith Family (bathroom stop at Graduate Hotel as needed)\n2:30 – Arrive Smith Family Books\n3:00 – Depart Smith Family\, walk 1.6 miles to Tsunami Books\n3:45 – Arrive Tsunami Books\n4:15 – Depart Tsunami; walk .5 miles to Amazon Parking Lot\n4:30 – End
