SUMMARY:Fuji Mountain
DESCRIPTION:We will follow the Fuji Mt. trail which begins at the Waldo Lake Rd. and proceed 3 miles to Birthday Lake for a water and snack break. From Birthday Lake we climb another 3 miles up to Fuji Mt for a view of Waldo Lk and the surrounding Cascade peaks while taking a lunch break. The return route will be along the same path. If weather or visibility is marginal we will forego the Fuji Mt summit and will make an 11 mile loop instead which will include the Upper and Lower Island Lakes\, Cy Bingham carvings\, and the Mt. Ray and Gold Lake trails back to the car. Masks will be needed for carpooling.

SUMMARY:Amazon Hdwtrs/Spencer Butte
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: Flexible departure time from 8:15-8:30.\nEvery Wednesday we do this hike from the Martin Street Trailhead to the summit of Spencer Butte. Compared to starting at the paved Spencer Butte parking lot\, this hike has double the climbing and three times the distance. It is a conditioning hike where everyone is challenging themselves to go at a moderate or fast pace—not like the other hikes on our schedule. It is a great way to get and stay in shape. If this is your first time on this Obsidian hike and/or if this is the first time you have hiked up Spencer Butte from the lowest elevation\, you may want to call the leader to discuss the pace. Registered guests are welcome. If you have questions\, email summertrips@obsidians.org. Come a few minutes early because we leave promptly at the listed time. (Please scroll down to read all of this trip description.) Everyone is required to CARRY A FACE COVERING and know how to use it properly. More information is available on the website. Look for Covid-19 Protocols. If you are not willing to follow the guidelines\, please do not join the group. To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park Martin Street near the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. Please call the leader if any questions.

SUMMARY:Mt Washington
DESCRIPTION:Last minute chance to climb Mt Washington this year! Washington is the best experience to get a lot of rock in a climb in Oregon.\nWe’ll start painfully early to give ourselves the maximum chance for success.\nWe’ll hike up the PCT\, take a left on the climbers’ trail and gain the ridge. The ridge is a fun scramble across rock and some scree with some route finding. Well reach the notch where we’ll put on our harnesses and get out the ropes. Then we have 3 pitches of rock to conquer for the summit. We’ll then downclimb two pitches and have a fun rappel back to the notch. Plan on a 13 hour day car to car. Meetup/Departure Location: TBD
