SUMMARY:Shady Creek Forest Tour
DESCRIPTION:This is a tour of the resilient Shady Creek Forest near Walton off Highway 126. Sponsored by the SciEd Committee\, this is an opportunity to see this lush coastal rain forest sandwiched between some massive clear cuts plus learn about the sustainable forest management practices\, an eco-forestry system\, with owner Dave Eisler. The hike will not be challenging or vigorous. The tour itself will go from 1 to 4. The trail miles and elevation gain noted above are estimates.\nShady Creek Forest is about 40 minutes outside Eugene. The tour provides us an opportunity to see how forest management practices can promote biodiversity\, sequester carbon that otherwise would contribute to global warming and protect critical natural resources\, such as drinking water. This forest is managed for both timber production and environmental and climate values. We will go.. rain or shine!
