SUMMARY:Eagle View Ridge

If conditions are right\, it’s a great descent off the ridge\, be ready for some turns! Drivers will need a Sno-Park permit.

SUMMARY:Deschutes Canyon New Year Bkpk
DESCRIPTION:Come test out that new holiday gear and start the backpacking year just because you can with this low-elevation dry-side hike of the enchanting Deschutes River canyon. We’ll see striking rock formations\, historic sites\, migrating waterfowl and nesting eagles. Depart Eugene Friday for 3.5 hour drive to the 10 essentials and 2 days of food. Stoves are necessary as there is no firewood in the canyon. The trail should be in good shape with a few muddy spots\, but overall clear and snow-free. Be prepared for rain/snow showers and night-time freezing temps. Or it can be 60* if skies are clear. near Warm Springs. Hike 2.5 miles down canyon to the Luelling Homestead Camp. Saturday day-hike down canyon following the route of the historic Oregon Trunk Railroad with turn around lunch at Trout Creek Camp. Sunday pack up and return to Mecca Flat Trailhead.

SUMMARY:Hendricks Park Aerobic
DESCRIPTION:Meet at the Hendricks Park shelter near Summit and Floral Hill. In the forest section of the park\, uphill from Fairmount Blvd.\, is a junction with one up/down and four down/up trails. All together they total about 2.25 miles and at a brisk pace provide a good aerobic workout\, with no long downhill stretches to slow your heartbeat. Once we get oriented (it is hard to get lost there)\, everything will be at your own pace for as long as you choose. A good walk to do with a hiking buddy who keeps the same pace as you. All well packed trail\, no mud. Restroom nearby.

SUMMARY:Amazon Hdwtrs/Spencer Butte
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: Flexible departure time from 8:15 to 8:30.\nEvery Wednesday since 2013 we do this hike from the Martin Street Trailhead to the summit of Spencer Butte. Compared to starting at the paved Spencer Butte parking lot\, this hike has double the climbing and three times the distance. It is a conditioning hike where everyone is challenging themselves to go at a moderate or fast pace—not like the other hikes on our schedule. If this is your first time on this Obsidian conditioning hike\, or hiking to Spencer Butte\, you may want to call the leader to discuss the pace. If you should fall too far behind\, the leaders reserve the right to have you not summit but wait and return with the group. The regulars on this hike have attained their fitness by showing up consistently and slowly improving. If you have questions\, email summertrips@obsidians.org. Come a few minutes early because we leave promptly at the listed time. To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park Martin Street near the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. Please contact the leader if you have any questions.

At Willamette/Donald St Intersection bear right on Willamette. Immediately bear right again on to Crest Drive. Follow signs staying on Crest for approximately 1.2 miles to the Junction with Blanton Road. Turn left on Blanton. The trail head is on your left in about ½ mile. Do not turn left on Southpointe Dr. \nAnother way to get to the Blanton trailhead is to go south on Chambers until it ends at Crest Drive. Turn left on to Crest. DESCRIPTION:We’ll plan on skiing the Midnight Lake loop clockwise\, heading up to Midnight Lake via the PCT\, then following the connector trail over to Abernethy Road near Bechtel Shelter\, and gliding down the road to complete the loop. We might modify this route based on conditions\, but will not increase the difficulty. This is an intermediate route\, not appropriate for beginner skiers.\nIf you could possibly drive to Gold Lake Sno-Park\, please arrive prepared to drive if necessary. Sno-Park permits are available at Berg’s\, REI\, Travel Lane County and other stores–if you have one\, please bring it whether you’re driving or not.

SUMMARY:Blanton Ridge to Spencer Butte
DESCRIPTION:This hike to the top of Spencer Butte takes the less traveled route from Blanton Road. We’ll cross Blanton Ridge before continuing on from the 52nd and Willamette trailhead. This option provides a good in town workout.. If the weather doesn’t co-operate we can forgo the exposed rocky steps near the top. \n To get to the trailhead from 29th & Willamette continue south on Willamette. In about ½ mile turn right on Blanton Road.
