SUMMARY:Blanton Ridge to Spencer Butte
DESCRIPTION:We will start on time at 7:00 am. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. This hike to the top of Spencer Butte takes the less traveled route from Blanton Road. We’ll cross Blanton Ridge before continuing on from the 52nd and Willamette trailhead. This option provides a good in town workout.. If the weather doesn’t co-operate we can forgo the exposed rocky steps near the top. \nThere are 2 ways to get to the trailhead:\n1. To get to the trailhead from 29th & Willamette continue south on Willamette. At Willamette/Donald St Intersection bear right on Willamette. Immediately bear right again on to Crest Drive. Follow signs staying on Crest for approximately 1.2 miles to the Junction with Blanton Road. Turn left on Blanton. The trail head is on your left in about ½ mile. Do not turn left on Southpointe Dr.\n2. Another way to get to the Blanton trailhead is to go south on Chambers until it ends at Crest Drive. Turn left on to Crest. In about ½ mile turn right on Blanton Road.

SUMMARY:Amazon Hdwtrs/Spencer Butte
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: Flexible departure time from 7:45 to 8:00.\nEvery Wednesday since 2013 we do this hike from the Martin Street Trailhead to the summit of Spencer Butte. Compared to starting at the paved Spencer Butte parking lot\, this hike has double the climbing and three times the distance. It is a conditioning hike where everyone is challenging themselves to go at a moderate or fast pace—not like the other hikes on our schedule. If this is your first time on this Obsidian conditioning hike\, or hiking to Spencer Butte\, you may want to call the leader to discuss the pace. If you should fall too far behind\, the leaders reserve the right to have you not summit but wait and return with the group. The regulars on this hike have attained their fitness by showing up consistently and slowly improving. If you have questions\, email summertrips@obsidians.org. Come a few minutes early because we leave promptly at the listed time. To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park Martin Street near the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. Please contact the leader if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:Blanton to Baldy w/options
DESCRIPTION:This hike has 3 distance options: #1 = 13.8 miles\, #2 = 11.2 miles\, #3 = 6.2 miles. \nThe #1 route will follow the Ridgeline Trail from the Blanton Trailhead to Mt. Baldy\, and will include the Tie Trail and Spencer Butte summit on the hike out to Mt. Baldy. Following a lunch break at Mt. Baldy\, these hikers will then return along the Ridgeline to the Blanton Trailhead WITHOUT repeating the Tie and Butte portions of the route. The #2 route will be the same as #1 EXCEPT it will NOT include the Tie Trail and Spencer Butte portion either direction. The #3/shortest route will be from the Blanton Trailhead to Mt. Baldy\, and also NOT include the Tie Trail and Spencer Butte portion\, instead continuing on to the Spring Trailhead (.5 miles past Mt. Baldy bench/rest area at the top)\, and returning to the Blanton Trailhead by car shuttle. Since the shuttle will only be available to a limited # of hikers\, please let the trip leader know as soon as possible if you are interested in the short/shuttle route. \nThe first/long route will most likely take 6 hours including a lunch break at Mt. Baldy and a few brief rest stops as needed\, especially on the return. Depending on the weather\, the leaders will plan on making extra water available at the Mt. Baldy lunch stop.

This year we will take a second loop described as Horse Ridge. This loop will lead us back to primary trail on our return trip. We hike through a Spruce forest just above ocean. If there is not a lot of weather you can hear the waves below. One option will to be to have lunch in Florence before we return home.

SUMMARY:Marys Peak
DESCRIPTION:Meeting place: Jerry’s Home Improvement\, Highway 99\, northeast corner of the parking lot. Arrive by 8:45 am for a 9am departure.\nMarys Peak should be showing off spring flowers. We’ll take off from Connor’s Camp and head counter clockwise\, all the way to the peak for lunch. We’ll then circle around close to the campground and then back to the main trail. This is a challenging hike. We’ll walk moderately\, but you need to be in good shape for this. Might stop at Long Timber Brewing in Monroe for an afternoon beverage or snack on way back if folks are interested. If you have any questions\, give me a call: 949-677-1379. \nDrivers: Carpools will be arranged at Jerry’s. Drivers will need either a NW Forest Pass or Interagency Pass at the Connor’s Camp trailhead.\nLeader may change location or reschedule if weather doesn’t cooperate.

SUMMARY:Blanton Ridge to Spencer Butte
DESCRIPTION:We will start on time at 6:45 am.— Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. In about ½ mile turn right on Blanton Road.es
