Join our 15th annual New Year's Hike that continues a long Club tradition. There will be two other departure times and locations. NOTE*** IF YOU ARE ON THE WAIT LIST, YOU CAN STILL COME. WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE PEOPLE SPREAD OUT. THE CITY DOESN'T WANT GROUPS LARGER THAN 20, BUT THERE IS NO LIMIT ON INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE OUT TO DO THE HIKE AND JUST RUN INTO FOLKS THEY KNOW.

We will start on time at 7:00 am. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. This hike to the top of Spencer Butte takes the less traveled route from Blanton Road. We'll cross Blanton Ridge before continuing on from the 52nd and Willamette trailhead. And then to the Spencer Butte summit.

Meet at the Obsidian Lodge to start the hike on the Ribbon Trail to Hendricks Park and back. This is an opportunity to find out about the Obsidians, get acquainted with members, and visit our lodge. |

We will park at Gold Lake Sno-park near the summit of hiway 58, carefully cross the highway and snowshoe through timber to the shores of Marilyn Lakes. Continuing north, we'll reach the Gold Lake Sheleter near the lake and enjoy a lunch break. The return route follows Gold Lake Road back to the sno-park. Driving miles will be 130, so $14.30 to drivers. This is a moderate outing. |

When you think of hiking in Eastern Oregon, deciding where to go in that remote and stunning part of our state may seem overwhelming. Hiking guru, Bill Sullivan, has spent some time there and will help us with some options. He will talk about various hiking trails and a bit of history of the area. He will also feature some choice hikes located in the Wallowas, which is where Obsidians Summer Camp 2025 will be held. This is a presentation you won’t want to miss. |
