We will meet at my car a row or two down from the fee box. Sunset is 8:59pm and the moonrise is 8:25pm. We will plan to take trails 17 and 3 to catch the main trail to the summit. A faster group of hikers may choose to include a portion of Trail 4 if it is open. We will take the main trail (#1) back to the parking lot. Email the leader or summertrips@obsidians.org if you have questions.

A beautiful and challenging all-day hike through some of Oregon's most iconic landscapes - waterfalls, lava fields and moss-covered old growth forest, all along the banks of the wild and scenic McKenzie River. We'll do this as a one-way shuttle with cars parked at the upper and lower trail head.

This meander will take us through the arboretum, past the quonset hut, and eventually to the river. We should hear and see lots of birds and maybe even spot a coyote. We will have lots of time to enjoy our surroundings.
